Our Plumbing Nighmare

Have you ever had a plumbing nightmare? We have! Here is a story I have to share. All pride is flying out the window but I think it is worth it for the laugh!

I was about 8 months pregnant with my son. I gained 60 pounds in that pregnancy so as you can imagine I was HUGE! One night while my husband was at work I went for one of my many nighttime “potty trips”. At was at the point in my pregnancy where I had to pee about every 15 minutes. I sat on the toliet and relaxed. You know how good it feels to sit down when you are that pregnant. Even if it is on the toliet. Well I set back and tried to relax for minute. All the sudden I hear this loud “snap”! And then WATER! LOTS of WATER!

Moving as quick as I could I stood up and realized that the toilet at cracked down the middle. Yes the porcelain tank cracked! Water quickly was filling the bathroom! As you can imagine I could not move very fast. I reached down and shut off the water knob at the wall. And finally I decided there was nothing else  I could do to stop it so I stood there and let the water cover the bathroom floor.

Finally the water was done and the toliet had run dry. I was standing in inches of water and had used all the towels I could find to stop it from running into the bedroom. I called my husband at work. How do you tell your husband that you broke the toliet and flooded the bathroom? And of course he was very careful what he said as I was very emotional! He assured me he would take a look when he got home. So knowing there was nothing I could do and totally exhausted I went to sleep.

The next morning we had to decide what to do. We are not “handy” at all! But my husband felt confident he could DO IT! He called in my amazing mother in law and they got to work. To our surprise the new toilet only cost about $70! They removed the pieces that were left of the old toliet. They did have the surprise of old poop making an appearance. YES! That was gross! But after about 45 minutes they had completed the task.

I was so impressed! It was actually quite simple! Who knew that we could replace a toilet! We were so proud of ourselves! And that is when the laughing finally began and still is! To this day I will not sit back when I go potty!

Have you had a  Plumbing Nightmare? I would LOVE to hear it!
