VeggieTales Princess and The Pop Star – A Review and DVD Giveaway!

I have mentioned time and time again how particular I am about what my kids watch. One that I am always happy with my kids watching is VeggieTale titles. VeggieTales works to uphold a christian standard on their products. They do this while still making it fun and entertaining for kids! My daughter has always loved VeggieTales. And since she is a self-declared Princess I knew she would love the new title by VeggieTales: The Princess and the Pop Star.

About VeggieTales Princess and the Pop Star: A Story of Trading Places:
Princess Poppyseed’s life on her family’s farm is far from the glamorous but lonely world of her favorite pop singer Vanna Banana.  On a chance meeting at a playground, Vanna and Princess cross paths and realize that they look almost exactly alike—which leads to the crazy secret plan where they decide to switch lives!  As each girl realizes that the life they longed for doesn’t fulfill all of their dreams, they learn that the life God gave them is the one for which they were uniquely and lovingly designed.
DVD Bonus Features:
  • Audio Commentary
  • “Astonishing Wigs” Silly Songs Sing-Along
  • “Right Where You Belong” Sing-Along
  • Behind the music with Francesca Battistelli and Friends
  • Princess Poppyseed’s Points For Being Uniquely You

A Mom’s Opinion: She was jumping up and down when it arrived! I was anxious to see how this one would be. How would they combine a Princess,a Popstar and Christian values in one movie? Well I was very pleased! Princess, is a girl on a farm who dreamed of any life but her own. She starts out the movie singing this super cute song about her little brother. They have the little quarrels and problems like most brothers and sisters. When while, Vanna Banana is a Popstar who dreams of any life be her own as well. She dreams of being out of the spotlight and just being a normal girl. When the girls meet and start sharing their frustrations they create the perfect plan to trade places.  This leads to adventure and a glance into a new life that they had only dreamed about. Both adored their new life for a while. But it did not take long to see that they were meant to be right were they started!

Many times throughout the movie the characters talk about God’s plan for our lives. That God puts us right where we need to be. And even though it may seem like he does not know what he is doing, it is all as it should be. Both these girls learn this lesson. Through song and dance they take us on this journey with them. You feel the excitement, disappointment, frustration and love of the characters. My daughter especially felt a closeness to Princess Poppyseed. Here favorite song is the one she sings about her brother. But in the end she also loved how Princess realized she loved her brother and would do anything for him!

Hmmm…. Fave veggietale…. that’s a HARD one… I LOVE THEM ALL!!!! I can name reasons for why every single one of them is my fave, even the more obscure ones…. but since I have to name one, I will go with Junior. The child like voice appeals to kids, and gives them strength to face boogeymen, giants, get slurpeed, and so many more things.
