Maximize space, efficiency and budget in the kitchen with Ikea

Dreaming about a kitchen upgrade? Starting small or going big – IKEA can help

Maximize space, efficiency and budget in the kitchen

If you find the idea of updating your kitchen overwhelming, you’re not alone. In a recent article by the Wall Street Journal, William Hamilton talks about the “refresh” that includes “no big budget, no big headache, but big effect.”  Many shoppers struggle to decide on where to start and when to stop as the needs and goals for every kitchen differ, and range from updating the décor or appliances to rebuilding the entire room from scratch. Luckily, for every scenario big and small, IKEA offers solutions that help customers maximize their space, efficiency and budget.

Start Small

One way to keep your kitchen remodel from becoming bigger than your kitchen is to start small with quick, easy and affordable fixes. If you’re looking to add more functionality to a small kitchen, try expanding your counter space by building your own island with the STENSTORP kitchen cart. IKEA’s Anna Halberg explains. Then, add a touch of style with lighting, choosing simple and inexpensive above-cabinet elements.

Building a kitchen island is one way to fit in all of the big-cooking essentials and still have plenty of room to work on your epic recipes.

Use simple and inexpensive lighting elements to add focus and help light the rest of the room.

Go Green

If you’re looking to green your kitchen, IKEA offers a number of stylish appliances that will do you and mother nature a favor by reducing water and energy use. The ALESKÄR tap and the BOHOLMEN sink and organizers make it easy to be more consumption conscious in the kitchen. ALESKÄR has a function to reduce water flow without affecting pressure, which saves water and energy. The unique design of the hand spray allows it to detach, so you aim water right where you need it.

PREP AND CHOP. Rinse on the right and chop on the left (or however you want to arrange things) with a colander and chopping board that securely rest on the basin.

Follow your plan

If there’s no combination of quick fixes and updates capable of saving your current kitchen, the IKEA Home Planner 3D is your starting point. This user-friendly program is designed to help the “non-experienced” kitchen planner create their dream kitchen. Draw it, build it and then get a floor plan and 3D view. The tool also allows you to add the right measurements of your walls placing windows, doors, cabinets, appliances, etc. as well as creating a detailed list of all products you choose to with name, product description, main material and price.  At the IKEA store you can discuss your drawing with one of our kitchen experts. They’ll go over the final details with you, so you can take your kitchen from drawing to reality.

Whether you are looking to refresh, renew or rebuild the kitchen of your dreams, IKEA is the perfect home improvement resource. Offering shoppers a wide range of décor, appliances and cabinetry coupled with design experts committed to helping customers through every step of the process, IKEA makes it easy to create a stylish and efficient kitchen. 1. This sounds like a great idea. I always have trouble imagining what things will look like and what will go where…

I love to wander IKEA and see all the imaginative and down-right brilliant displays they have. I have gotten lots of inspiration from there and thanks to their prices, have done it relatively inexpensively.

  3. Sheralle Douglas says:

THe Home Planner 3D sounds like a great idea because I am not creative enough to see my plans in my head. I am going to have to check out IKEA. I have heard great things about it but have never looked into it myself.
