Looking Lovely On Less
This week is all about using what you already have!
Hi there! I’m Kristine! I’m so thrilled to be a contributing writer here on Living on Love and Cents! Twice a month I’ll be sharing some beauty/fashion “secrets” of mine that get me out of my beloved Mommy uniform (velour pants and a t-shirt), and into something a little more fashionable, all while saving money! As Momma, aka CEO of our household, I’m all about taking care of everyone in our little family of four, and usually putting myself on the back burner. That’s unlikely to change, but this year, even with spit up stains and food in my hair from my sprouts, I decided that I deserve to look and feel great for myself. You know what? You deserve it too! I hope I inspire you to step out of your comfort zone, and join me on this fashion journey.

Sad to admit, but I usually just get “dressed up” for date night, which we are lucky enough to try and do once a week (thankful for grandparents). This week I challenged myself and dug into my closet and tried to find something I hadn’t worn in awhile. I found this dress that I had worn to my sister’s graduation in June. I paired it with a black tank, a black skinny belt, and black heels. For accessories I added a charm chunky bracelet and black hoop earrings. During our dinner date the waitress commented on how pretty my “shirt” was. Then the wheels in my head started turning…

Why not use it as a shirt too! Literally, I just tucked the dress into my favorite pair of jeans, and wah-lah! I ditched the belt on the dress and used it on my pants, plus changed up my shoes and accessories. I’ve got a whole “new” outfit, that pretty much beats the crap out of my Mommy uniform (wink).

I need to take the time to accessorize better. I tend to just grab the same earrings, etc., and I’m in too big a hurry to put on those pretty bracelets and necklaces I have.
That’s totally me Mary!! I LIVE in my pearls, which are nice and work for everyday, but I need to bust out all those dangly earrings I just had to have
