Walgreens Prescription Savings Club Helps the Uninsured Breath Easier & Save Big! #rxsavingsclub

Right now in Amaerica so many of us either have very poor medical insurance or NO insurance. We are in this same boat. We had insurance but it did not cover anything until we had reached a very high deductable. Because we were paying $200 a month for something that was not helping us we canceled. This put us in a scarey place.  A place of the uninsured!

This hit us hard last weekend when I got really sick. After trying to heal myself I decided it was time to seek professional help. I went to an Urgent Care Clinic in the next little town over. Thank goodness I did! I had pneumonia! Can you imagine if I had let it go longer? I would have ended up very sick and in the hospital! Keeping this in mind we were thankful I went but have chest pains at the ammount of money we were having to pay! We paid big bucks for the Urgent Care Clinic because they do not bill or take  payments. Then I had to go to Walgreens to fill my four…YES FOUR prescriptions! I knew this was going to hurt too!

Picture this mama at the Walgreens counter coughing up her lungs and barely able to stand and then realizing I had to pay more than I had to pay for the medicines to get better. This is a very scary and helpless place for a person to be in! That is when the Walgreens Prescription Savings Club entered the picture to help me breath easier. You can see the whole shopping experience here.

Even though I saw all the signs and info on the way in I just assumed I could not get it. It is funny but I really thought there was probably a catch and I did not have time to fill out forms, submit health info, wait for big corporate people somewhere to decide if I was elegible. But to my AMAZEMENT I was dead wrong. When I reached the pharmacy the pharmasist came to the counter he had “that” look in his eyes and said he wanted to talk. That is never a good sign! He showed me the ammount due for the medications. Then he went above and beyond and printed out a page for me to compare the prices with the Savings Club Membership.

There was difinetly a big difference in price. Then he told me I would qualify with no questions asked! No long forms to fill out either! And the best part, it only costs $20 for me alone and that pays for the entire year. No monthly fees or hidden charges! If I got the memebership today I could use it today! So when we looked over all the savings we realized if I got it today  paid the $20 and used the card on these prescriptions it would still be cheaper than buying all of these with out insurance! Yes, even with that $20 for the plan it was still less! It was a no brainer! I was buying the plan!

Once I got home I was able to look through the papers he gave me. They have a list of medicines that are covered on the plan. I take 3 medicines on a regular basis. They are very expensive but we thought it was that way everywhere. WRONG! There they were, all three, on the list. They have them listed as tiers and based on the amount you need and tier determines the amount. All were less than we pay at Walmart! You can see if your prescriptions are included here.

And it gets even better! I got a coupon with my purchase that states if I transfer my prescriptions I will get a $25 Walgreen’s card! They also had the coupons out on display. So that means when I transfer the prescriptions from Walmart I will get a free $25!!!

Oh and there is STILL more! I can use the Savings Club card to save on all Walgreens Brand products too! The pharmasist said it was similar to an employee discount.

Enjoy these club benefits:

  • Valuable discounts on thousands of brand-name and all generic medications
  • Between 5 percent and 20 percent discount on most immunizations
  • 10 percent bonus on purchases of Walgreens Brand, W Brand, Nice! products and in-store photofinishing services2
  • 10 percent savings on services from Take Care ClinicsSM at select Walgreens3
  • Savings on preventive and lifestyle medications your insurance may not cover
  • Additional discounts on pet medications with a human equivalent, all compounded medications, nebulizers and diabetic supplies
  • An individual membership is $20 per year and a family can join for $35 a year.

There is NOTHING BAD to say about this plan. I used my savings to by the Savings card on that first visit and started saving that day. I can transfer all of my medicines and get a $25 Walgreens gift card AND I get a discount on Wlagreens brand products.
