Does your child like to draw? What if they could see their drawings come to life? Would you be excited? Well I have great news for you! Lazoo has released 2 of its books as Apps for the iPad. And both of these apps are FREE! I am so excited to share this with you!
I fell in love with Lazoo through their boys clothing line. They have adorable clothing for kids. After discovering their clothes I found their huge selection of books. These are not the silly books that the kids read once and never pick back up again. These books are fun and creative! For example the coloring book HOLES takes a new twist on coloring in the lines. In this book you color in the holes and as you turn each page those holes turn into other creative items. They have interactive books that keep kids attention while teaching about things like shapes, faces and animals.
These books were featured on the Today Show today (July 10,2012). They showed a little boy drawing and turning the pages in amazement. You can see the clip here.
They have taken these books a step further and created a free app out of the books Squiggles! and Let’s Color!
A child’s hand-drawn squiggle can become a bird’s nest, rocket smoke, cotton candy, sheep’s wool, a curly beard, and more! Simply squiggle away on pages filled with Lazoo’s internationally award-winning art. Then hit the Go button and watch drawings soar, pulsate, move, twirl, and multiply. Children will feel empowered and astonished as they see their creations spring to life.
Save your child’s drawings in the app or upload them to Lazoo’s secure digital treasure chest and email them to family and friends! Includes an amazing interactive storybook and animated short featuring Lazoo’s adorable characters, Bobu and Miku, who model creative thinking and encourage children to use their imaginations and “color outside the lines.”
— 14 unique “living” drawing pages — Drawing palette including stickering, chalk, mystery color, ketchup tool, and more — Gallery for saved pictures — Sharing features including email, Facebook, Twitter, Lazoo community, and printing capabilities — Interactive storybook — Animated short with Bobu and Miku
Let’s play! Let’s learn! Let’s Color! Education: “Let’s Color!” is based on Lazoo’s “Hands On! Mind On!” curriculum, developed in conjunction with top educational experts. Lazoo apps are designed to: — build divergent thinking skills — foster problem solving skills including implementing, evaluating, communicating, and revising creative ideas — assist a child in becoming comfortable with uncertainty — encourage a resilient approach to play and creative problem solving so that a child learns persistence — support the kind of appropriate risk-taking in play and thinking that inspires creativity — encourage an interest in, and openness to, emotion in both play and thinking
— 18 free “living” drawing pages — Drawing palette including stickers, chalk, colors, and more — 16 additional pages available — Features international award-winning Lazoo art — Gallery for saved pictures — Email, Facebook, Twitter, and print capabilities — Upload pictures to Lazoo’s digital treasure chest — Charming animated short featuring Miku the Bunny and friends — Japanese translation mode
These two apps can keep kids entertained in a constructive way. Toddlers , preschool and elementary age kids that I showed this app to were all intrigued. They each wanted a turn and were willing to give up tv time for time on the iPad. It was raining outside and this was the perfect way for them to stay entertained. I loved watching their faces as their own pictures came to life on the screen. They had a feeling of accomplishment and pride in their work. Check out this clip.
