Earlier this month Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced the launch of Sesame Street: Elmo’s Musical Monsterpiece for Wii and Nintendo DS, the newest editions in the Company’s line of award-winning Sesame Street games.
Designed around Sesame Workshop’s early childhood development curriculum, Sesame Street: Elmo’s Musical Monsterpiece encourages music creation, physical aspects of movement and dance, emotional expression through music and dance, exploration of instruments, and introduces academic aspects of music such as mathematics in music (patterns, counting), musical elements, and notation.
An action-filled console and handheld video game, Sesame Street: Elmo’s Musical Monsterpiece lets preschoolers play instruments, explore music and dance with Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Count von Count and the honkers as they travel through a music-themed land of wonder. Through their fun adventures, the game is designed to teach young players how music and dance occur in everyday life. The game also includes music performed by GRAMMY® award-winning bandOzomatli and includes original songs by the popular Los Angeles-based band.
We received this game this week and it is already my son’s new favorite. He is young and so most of the games my daughter and husband play are to hard for him. But Elmo’s Musical Monsterpiece is perfect for the young ones. Sesame Street always does a wonderful job of entertaining our young kids while also teaching them. This game is a fabulous combination of musical instruments, terms and sounds. It also incorporates shapes, patterns, counting and more.
I love the physical aspects of the game as well. They incorporate dance and upbeat music in each activity. This game actually tired my little guy out and that never happens! He was jumping while making music on the piano. He did more jumping to reach music notes to create a song. It was so much fun that he didn’t realize how much exercise he was getting.
Lastly, I love that it is something I can do with the kids. There are parental controls that can make you feel secure and know what your kids are doing. Put beyond that it is FUN for parents to play too! My 6 year old at first thought this game was to babyish for her. But after watching me and little man play two games she was begging for a turn. That is so exciting to see them playing together for a change. It shows that this game is good for boys and girls , young and old.
