Decorate the entrance of your home with swarms of bats. You can cut out bats from black construction paper. Use fisher’s string or tape to attach dozens of bats across your front door. It will look like if you have a flock of bats “flying” across your door.
Milk Jug Ghost Lights
Start saving your milk jugs. You can create awesome Halloween decorations for your front yard using empty jugs. All you have to do is to thoroughly wash them and removing all labels so that they are all white. Draw “ghostly” faces on the jugs using a permanent marker. You can then place a small battery operated tea light inside each jug. You can line driveway or front door with these ghost lights.
Trash Bag Ghosts
An excellent way to decorate your home without spending a dime is by using white trash bags. Fill the trash bags with any trash or paper that you have. If you want to kill two birds with one stone, rake your backyard and fill them up with dead leaves. Tie the bags and decorate them with “ghost faces”. You can then hang them from the roof so they look as if they are floating around your house.
Create a sign to welcome trick-or-treaters into your home. Find an old piece of wood and use chalkboard paint to turn it into a chalkboard. You can then write a welcome message for your guests and even include what kind of goodies you will have available at your home.
White Sheet Ghosts
Another way to create floating ghosts to decorate your home is by cutting old white sheets into pieces. You can place the sheet over a soccer ball or balloon to create a head for the ghost. Use fabric markers to draw a face on the ghost. You can hang the ghosts from your roof or have them “sit” on your lawn.
The Witch’s Broom
If you have several old brooms that you won’t be using anymore, hang them around your house to look like they are floating in the air. Paint the handles black to create a greater contrast and to make them more eye-catching.
All of these projects are very easy and can be made with items that we already have lying around our homes. Making your own Halloween decorations is an excellent way to recycle some materials and create unique and crafty decorations for this season.
